Lottery: €5 million won at tobacconist Le 116, rue Félix-Faure

A regular player validated the winning ticket for the 26 September draw at the city-centre tobacconist: five million euros, lucky numbers played for years, and a winner who wants to stay anonymous.

A ticket validated at the Le 116 point of sale, 63 rue Félix-Faure in Cannes, has won the €5 million jackpot from the Loto draw of 26 September 2026. The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a regular at the shop: he had been playing the same numbers for years, chosen from dates of birth.

The winning combination was 4, 7, 14, 18 and 20, with the Chance number 1. According to information relayed by FDJ United, the player came to the tobacconist to renew his subscription; he then discovered the jackpot by checking the results online.

The manager of Le 116, Hervé Ridey, learned the news on 9 October, by telephone from his sales representative. 'In 20 years, this is our first big winner,' the shopkeeper rejoices: it is the first big win of this scale sold in his shop in more than twenty years of business.

In his small but already busy tobacconist, Hervé Ridey now expects more customers. The shop had already recorded other, more modest wins, including €20,000 on the Loto and €12,000 on PMU betting.

The 26 September draw also rewarded other players: four ticket holders who matched the five main numbers but not the Chance number each won €63,827, and ten winning codes were worth €20,000 each.

The new millionaire, for his part, wants to take time to think about what comes next. Among the options mentioned are investments to secure part of the sum, a possible career change and an extended trip abroad: this jackpot, he says, gives him 'the freedom'.

According to FDJ statistics, this Alpes-Maritimes winner is the 42nd big Loto winner of 2026, for the year's 29th jackpot. The win does not enter the department's all-time records: the threshold stands at €8.5 million, won in Vence in July 2018. At the very top, La Trinité holds the first two places, with two wins in the same year, including a €169 million EuroMillions jackpot on 13 November 2012.

After the draw, more than 815,000 tickets were declared winning across France, winning codes included and excluding the second draw, according to figures relayed by Tirage-Gagnant.com. The jackpot comes after three draws without a rang-1 winner, since the Heritage Super Loto won in the Cher on 18 September; the department finally sees a Loto jackpot again, the previous one dating back to 13 July 2022, when a couple from Nice won €4 million.
