Christie Brinkley leaves her handprints on the Chemin des Étoiles

On Monday 12 October, in the middle of MIPCOM week, the 72-year-old American model placed her handprints at the Palais des Festivals. Cannes has added a name to its memory of stars. On Monday 12 October, Christie Brinkley was honoured with a handprint ceremony at the Palais des Festivals, on the sidelines of MIPCOM, the international audiovisual content market occupying the Palais from 12 to 15 October. The 72-year-old American model posed for photographers with the slab bearing the imprint of her hands, wearing a silver sequined gown by L'Agence and a short black leather jacket.

The slab will join the Chemin des Étoiles, the walk around the Palais des Festivals that preserves the handprints of film and television personalities passing through Cannes, modelled on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. According to InStyle, some 150 handprints of other personalities are already preserved there. During the day, Christie Brinkley changed into a red, long-sleeved gown, USA Today reports, worn at Fox's Sunset Soirée, according to Page Six.

A docuseries presented to MIPCOM buyers

Christie Brinkley's visit to Cannes coincides with the international presentation of Uptown Girl: The Christie Brinkley Story, a docuseries in three one-hour episodes scheduled to premiere in 2027 on FOX Nation, the Fox group's streaming service. The programme was offered to the foreign buyers gathered at MIPCOM by FOX Entertainment Global, which handles its worldwide distribution.

Produced by Lionsgate Alternative Television and directed by Larissa Bills, the series draws on Christie Brinkley's personal archives: home movies, photographs, journals and artwork. The portrait alternates intimate records, archival footage and present-day sequences, to tell the story of a life lived in the public eye for more than five decades. It retraces her early artistic ambitions, her modelling career, motherhood and her life with singer Billy Joel, with whom she shared the billing of the Uptown Girl music video in 1983.

From Paris to the Chemin des Étoiles

On her Instagram account, Christie Brinkley thanked Cannes for the honour, recalling her youthful years in Paris, more than half a century earlier, at the start of her career. Last month, she returned to a runway at New York Fashion Week, for Dennis Basso's spring-summer 2027 show, a first in nearly ten years, according to People.

The ceremony illustrates the role of MIPCOM, a market usually reserved for professionals, which sometimes leaves lasting traces in Cannes' public space: one more slab on the Chemin des Étoiles, between the Palais and the Croisette.
