Hundreds of people are expected this Sunday 18 October at the Plage de la Salis in Antibes for the Triathlon des Roses, a sporting event entirely dedicated to breast cancer research. Held from 8.30 am to 2 pm, with the main start at 11 am, it is co-organised by the Fondation ARC for cancer research and the Antibes Triathlon club, in partnership with the town of Antibes Juan-les-Pins, as part of Octobre Rose.

The format is designed to be accessible: 200 metres of sea swimming starting from La Salis, then 10 kilometres of cycling towards Cap d’Antibes, and finally 2.5 kilometres of running, from the bike park to Cap d’Antibes. The event is open from age 12, according to Presse Agence, and the organiser says Antibes, alongside Nantes, hosts the last two editions of the 2026 season on the same Sunday.

No start line before the fundraising

What sets the Triathlon des Roses apart is its entry condition: to line up at the start, every participant must first open a fundraising page and raise at least 150 euros in donations as an individual, and 250 euros for relay teams. The individual event is reserved for women; relays of two or three people may be mixed, with the cycling leg remaining reserved for women. According to Presse Agence, the entry fee is 17 euros, on top of the fundraising target.

The model has proved itself: the previous edition raised more than 78,700 euros, according to the Antibes Juan-les-Pins tourist office. The money raised funds breast cancer research projects, and the event also aims to raise awareness and inform, beyond sporting performance.

Companies are also invited to mobilise their teams for this day of cohesion and solidarity, Presse Agence notes, adding that every donation is tax deductible. It is that mix of a short effort, advance fundraising and collective commitment that has established the event in the Octobre Rose calendar on the Côte d’Azur.

A season closes in pink

In a message published on the eve of the race, the Triathlon des Roses organisation presents the Nantes and Antibes editions, this Sunday 18 October, as the close of its season of sporting, charitable mobilisation for breast cancer research. In Antibes, the La Salis start gives Octobre Rose its big Riviera sporting occasion of the weekend: a short race, a picture postcard setting between the old town and the Cap, and a finish line that rewards not just a time, but a fundraising total.
